We absolutely loved working with Mark and the team at Key Largo Bicycle. Mark worked with me and my wife to design a four-day ride from Key Largo to Key West. He recommended fantastic hotels, lodges, and B&Bs. He also accompanied us our first day from Tavenier to Islamorada, pointing out historical sites and discussing the impact of tourism on the local community. His team ensured that our bikes were in top shape each day and efficiently moved our luggage from one hotel/lodge to the next. I highly recommend Key Largo Bicycle for riders who want to experience the beauty of the Keys at leisurely pace.
Key Largo to Key West Century Tour 01/2015: Mark and his team were wonderful. I was a female solo rider and they took great care of me on the route. It was a great experience and I highly recommend using Mark and his team as guides and sag.
January 6th, 2017 we were scheduled to fly into Ft. Lauderdale airport. That afternoon there was a mass shooting at the airport. Several people died and the airport was shut down. It was tragic! We were awaiting our departure flight in Philadelphia that afternoon when we heard the news of the shooting. I was SO upset and crying because we had considered getting the earlier flight and if we did we would have been in Ft Lauderdale when the shooting happened. I felt such sadness for the people that were in the Ft Lauderdale airport when the shooting occurred! Anyway, we tried for 6 hours to get another flight into southern Florida so that we could reach our destination to the Keys！My husband and I LOVE biking, so we had planned on biking the whole length of the keys (90 miles) from Saturday-Monday and then flying back home on Tuesday! Trying to get away from the harsh Philadelphia winter weatherand get some exercise! We had already paid the bike shop in FULL via phone using our credit card for the bike rentals. We were planning on picking them up Saturday morning. Well, unfortunately we were unable to get another flight.(not as unfortunate as the people that died earlier that day) (keeping perspective here) We called our hotels and the bike rental shop immediately from the airport to break the news. We also sent emails. We were hung up on by Someone from the bike shop. Our emails were never returned. This is very unfortunate because we would have liked to have planned another trip. I STILL REALLY want to bike the keys. However, on principle I cannot ever rent bikes from this place. This place that I feel stole from us. We paid for a service that we did not receive! Our money was never refunded. Our credit card disputed the charges and we are still waiting to hear back, but Under the circumstances this bike shop was heartless, selfish, etc... They could have at least offered us some sort of voucher to come at another time. Very disappointing!
A truly memorable experience. My son and I did the 2 day escorted ride to Key West. Our guide, Oliver was great. So was Patrick in the support van. They both knew all the ins and outs of the ride down to the Keys. We had great food and great weather. The bikes were rented were good quality Jamis bikes which were well maintained. Overall, a five star experience and highly recommended.
